The Knot Churros

If you have a sweet tooth and like to daydream on a boho rattan swing surrounded by flamingoes then this is the place for you! At The Knot they serve quirky ice cream dishes topped with churros, candyfloss and lots of exciting sprinkles from The Little Mermaid to The Nutty Professor or Smarty Pants.

Sketch London

There is literally no way on this earth that Sketch would ever be excluded from this list. It is as unique in its purpose as it is in its decor, offering art, cuisine and music all under one roof over in a beautiful converted 18th century building in Mayfair. With each room showcasing a different theme and style, there is an abundance of decor to soak in just in this one location.

The Glade is like a modern Midsummer Night’s Dream enchanted forest, complete with decoupage trees on the walls, forest floor carpet and a self-playing piano. I love that the napkins have what appears to be a handwritten phone number on them too; a cute touch.

British artist David Shringley’s work lines the walls of the strikingly pink Gallery restaurant which is opposite The Glade. His work carries through onto the tables and I love how much thought they’ve put into every last detail, from the staff uniform to the tableware to the food itself.

Connected to the Gallery are these space-age toilets which simply cannot go unmentioned. It’s pretty clear why they’ve been voted the ‘Coolest Toilets in the World’.

There are more rooms yet to explore so I will most definitely return and I love the sound of their afternoon teas too.

Stork

Not far from Sketch is a gorgeous restaurant in Mayfair which is described as a blend of British Modern cuisine with accents of West African and Eastern European dishes. The food is delicious and the decor just as much, with a beautiful gold stork popping out of a large egg at the entrance, chairs I wanted to take home and display cabinets each housing a differently designed egg sculpture.

Elan Cafe

Elan Cafe, or EL&N London as it’s now known as, is rocking the Instagram squares at the moment and it’s easy to see why. With new branches popping up all over London including one in Selfridges you can expect to see a similar theme throughout…an array of mouth watering cakes, alternative lattes, pink decor, neon signs, flower walls, love heart caves, vintage bikes and in the Knightsbridge branch outside the Harrods tube station entrance, pink carousel horses (as you do)!

Dalloway Terrace

Attached to the Bloomsbury Hotel, this beautiful space functions all year round is just a short walk from Oxford Street and Soho. I’m a sucker for anything Narnia-like so I was beside myself when we sought out this place to cure our hangovers with a drink from their Juicery.

Peggy Porschen Cakes

Love the colour pink? Love girlie decor? Love cakes? Then this bakery is for you! There are two branches including one a stone throw from Victoria Station.

Pret-a-Portea at The Berkeley Hotel

This has to be one of THE prettiest afternoon tea spreads you’ve ever seen! The Pret-a-Portea ‘cakewalk’ features iconic designs inspired by big fashion houses. When I went it was specifically in honour of the Dior Couture Collection to celebrate the Designer of Dreams exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

I’m a sucker for artistic presentation and these little beauties were so perfect I felt a bit sad eating them (not enough to stop though you understand…I can confirm they’re as delish as they look)    Pret a Portea at The BerkeleyPret a Portea at The Berkeley

The London Edition

Next to Oxford Street in the West End, this stunning hotel is in walking distance of Covent Garden, Regent Street and Bond Street. The lobby is a true delight, as are the cosy bedrooms, and the attached Berners Tavern has a Michelin starred chef in breathtaking surroundings so The London Edition really does have it all. The smell around the hotel is divine too, so much so that we had to ask what it was. (If you’re interested it’s Le Labo fragrance in ‘The Noir 29’ and you can check it out here)

Sanderson Hotel

Conveniently The London Edition is on the same street as the Sanderson Hotelso we nipped in there for a cocktail (or two) and it’s soooooo beautiful inside (rather deceiving from the outside). It also has an on-site spa if you need a revive after all that walking.

St Martins Lane

This hotel is part of the same chain as The Sanderson in the heart of Covent Garden and is in walking distance of Leicester Square, The National Gallery, Picadilly Circus and Oxford Street. It’s dubbed as Theatreland’s coolest 5 star luxury hotel and is noted for Philippe Stark’s eclectic design.

The renowned Asia de Cuba restaurant can also be found at St Martin’s Lane Hotel and has ‘whimsical, enchanting interior design’. Their bottomless brunch is on my list.

The Langham

The Langham is opposite the BBC Studios on Regent Street and is in an impressive historic building which is hard not to be impressed by. We went there for afternoon tea in Palm Court and I have to say, it tops every other afternoon tea experience we’ve ever had in London. I mean, check out this Valentine’s Day themed plate, need I say more?

The Artisian Bar

Voted the World’s Best Bar, is also at The Langham and their cocktails are as inventive as they are yummy. The atmosphere is cool yet relaxed and unstuffy and I loved the excitement of literally not knowing how your next drink would be presented. One came in a wooden box with dry ice spilling out, another in a glass ball held up by a rope net, another in a silver Meccano elephant and this bronze ant which came with two cups that you had to mix together.

Clos Maggiore

It’s not difficult to see why this Covent Garden restaurant was voted the ‘Most Beautiful Restaurant in the World’. Their conservatory which is lined by mirrored walls and cherry blossom trees literally took my breath away when we first visited. The restaurant has a really cosy intimate feel and I love how they’ve segregated the tables with dried topiary inspired by Provence and Tuscany. The food is exquisite, their lunch deals are excellent and keep your eyes peeled as Prince Harry has been spotted here on numerous occasions.

The Ritz

Probably the hotel which is most associated with London and one for the bucket list. It’s not the style that would ordinarily appeal to me, but I love how it has remained quintessentially British. Their afternoon tea is held in the beautiful Palm Court and their floral displays are simply exquisite.

Quaglinos

Around the corner from The Ritz and in complete contrast is Quaglino’s restaurant and bar, with its impressive staircase and decadent setting. It also got a nod in tv show Absolutely Fabulous so if you love this programme, it’s a must stop.

The Conran Shop

On the Fulham Road in Chelsea in the most beautiful Art Deco building lies The Conran Shop. I love their products, love the way it’s laid out and I love their Christmas displays.

Harrods, Liberty, Selfridges and John Lewis always pull out the stops for their window displays too.

Rainforest Cafe

If you’re visiting London with children they can eat in awe of the Amazon rainforest created in the heart of Piccadilly, complete with sound effects, lifelike animatronics, tropical showers, cascading waterfalls and the odd thunderstorm too. My daughter loved gazing at the starlit ceiling and watching the life-size moving elephant while munching on her pizza.

London has a never-ending array of inspiring and unexpected interior delights, but I hope these 17 most instagrammable places in London have given you a few unknown gems to seek out in addition to the must-see museums, galleries and tourist spots.

Until next time,
