SAFARI CHIC DOTTY GUEST BEDROOM

EEEEEEK, I’m so excited to share our Safari Chic Dotty Guest Bedroom with you. It’s also got a few boho touches too so I wasn’t really sure what to call it but hey, Safari Chic Dotty Guest Bedroom it is and hopefully the pictures will do the talking!

WALLS AND FURNITURE

I think you’ll agree that the absolute showstopper in this room is the taupe wallpaper called Huddy’s Dots from Milton and King. If you’ve seen our dotty bathroom you’ll know I’m a bit partial to spotty walls but that is a temporary measure while we’re waiting for a new bathroom; this is chic and quality beyond words. I love the versatility of this dotty wallpaper design too, it’s perfect for bedroom wallpaper and couldn’t you imagine it in a girl’s or boy’s nursery or in a dining room? (It’s washable too – winner). Watch this space because we’re also using it in our cloakroom and I’m hoping my dad won’t mind putting it up for us again because he commented on how being able to paste the wall for this product made the job much easier!

We bought the headboard on a Facebook selling site and got it for less than what we sold our other one so that was a bonus and for the bedside tables we actually decided to use Chinese stools from our living room because I just could’t imagine having bulky ones with drawers there, particularly as they are really close to the chest of drawers in the corner.

The cream chest of drawers from Ikea was from Emmie’s bedroom before it became a Lilac Clouds and Rainbows Bedroom and the tall piece was personalised using Annie Sloan Paint and stick on letters (which we peeled off once the paint dried). The pink velvet chair is one of a pair bought when we created Isla’s Modern Boho Peachy Bedroom.

ACCESSORIES AND DIYS

The beautiful rug under the bed was from Etsy and originally used in our family room but I just love it here. It’s got all those earthy tones associated with the boho vibe and I love how the pattern brings an African feel too.

Because of the detail in the rug and the showstopper wallpaper we kept the bedding really simple with a blush pink duvet cover edged with white piping from Wayfair UK.

The bed cushions are from Homesense and I love how the fringing on the blush one picks up the feathers on our pale pink juju hat wall hanging from eBay, and the leopard print ones pick up the dotty wallpaper, don’t you? The blanket at the end of the bed is casually thrown on there to give it a more casual vibe and is years old from Homesense.

I’m normally pretty decisive and my design instinct usually points me in the right direction but man did I deliberate over those bedside lamps!!! I had about five in my Wayfair basket from patterned ceramic ones to taupe stone ones but in the end I went for simplicity and a modern design that would pick up the circular elements elsewhere in the room (including the headboard and bedside tables). For artwork I decided to make our own using Ikea frames we already had, by simply cutting shapes from coloured paper and sticking onto plain white card. Simples! The beautiful gold terrarium underneath is from Wayfair and was used at Emmie’s Lilac Enchanted Fairy Garden Party.
