A Modern Boho Peachy Girl's BedroomWith 2020 being a new decade and all, it’s an exciting time for interior trends as I personally think many will take the opportunity to say goodbye to staple trends from the past few years.

Here are my OSK interior trend predictions for 2020…

In line with Pantone Colour of the Year 2020 ‘Classic Blue’ I see jewel hues coming into play such as rich velvet ochres being paired with moody blues, plus the chance to be more playful with colourful furniture including coffee tables and dining chairs.

I think the whites, neutrals, greys and pastels that we’ve come to expect will evolve into richer shades like warm blush, terracotta and gold.

Walls and Fabrics

Feature walls disappeared for a while but I think they’ll be back…and then some. I wouldn’t be surprised if patterned wallpapers and bold print fabrics feature in more homes – together – which will give people the opportunity to explore their own style and creativity plus be influenced by sources other than home decor, such as visits to other countries and inherited items.

We introduced dotty Dalmatian print wallpaper to our Guest Bedroom thanks to Milton & King Wallpaper and paired it with a blush African Juju Hat, leopard print cushions and boho touches to create a unique Boho Chic Safari vibe.

I was hugely inspired by our recent Colourful Family Road Trip to Florida and I’m now desperate to bring the feels of this sunshine state to our own home; first stop is bringing some personality to our kitchen with some beautiful palm wallpaper and I hope to complete this by spring.

Sustainability and Reuse

With the environment at the top of many agendas, sustainable materials like rattan will continue to be the choice of many, as will up cycling and reusing furniture to reduce waste.

I think we’ll embrace different styles and shapes in favour of ‘matching sets’ and clean lines; imagine granny’s up cycled dining table paired with new scalloped velvet chairs or quirky fringing added to a modern lampshade. Anything goes and I love that!

Creativity and Mental Health

Of course the other huge plus of up cycling and getting creative is the mental health benefit, another topic that we are thankfully becoming more aware of. I for one use it as a source of therapy and escapism and wouldn’t be without it; it’s one of the reasons I started Oh So Kel in the first place and I truly benefit from the joys of creativity.

We personally introduced craft projects and upcycling to our daughters’ bedrooms; Emmie’s Clouds and Rainbows Bedroom and Isla’s Peachy Boho Bedroom. We painted old rattan headboards and a side table using Annie Sloan paint, plus made a DIY Rope Rainbow Wall Hanging, 3D flower letter‘HEY’ cardboard vases and up cycled some jam jars by spray painting them for desk tidies.

I adore it all mixed together with new, modern decor for an individual quirky look. We saved a fortune, had fun getting crafty and recycled at the same time!

It’s an exciting time to allow your personality to shine through in your home.

I can’t wait to see what beautiful decor appears in the high street stores and I can’t wait to share my braver interior choices this year. First on the list is bringing the beautiful palm wallpaper (and perhaps a neon sign?) to our kitchen, so watch this space!

I really love this year’s pantone colour, it’s so bright and vibrant. I definitely want to try and incorporate more jewel tones in my home, I’m a bit bored of my current colour scheme xo

Lots of inspiration here, thank you for sharing!
I especially love the upcycling and recycling elements that are becoming more popular (with good reason).
