Being a 9 year old Isla is in that transitional age where she’s really ‘growing up’. Eeek! It seems like yesterday that she was just starting nursery! She kept saying she really wasn’t keen on her ‘pretty peach’ bedroom anymore and wanted to make her room more funky, so when ilovewallpaper.co.uk introduced their beautiful new range of designs I didn’t take much persuading to agree to a mini-makeover.
What I love about the I Love Wallpaper website is that it’s so easy to find what you want because you can search by colour, style, room and finish across a huge range of designs, plus the features on their home page and ‘New Arrivals’ tab make it really easy to tap into the latest trends. When we set eyes on their stunning Leopard Metallic Animal Print Wallpaper we were both completely sold as it ticked the box for Isla’s ‘funky’ vision, it was versatile enough to go with her existing furniture and accessories and I adore the metallic gold elements which instantly gave me all the DIY Midas touch feels!
What’s incredible about this makeover is it took 24 hours to complete and we didn’t have to buy any new furniture or accessories, such is the power of wallpaper for changing the look of a room.
We simply painted the walls in a pale peppermint colour to lose the peach, added the Leopard Metallic Animal Print Wallpaper and spray painted some existing items including the pink table-lamp and rattan mirror. The cream chest of drawers was from her original bedroom which we brought back in from the garage then added black knobs to match the room and make it more ‘grown up’.
Isla is ridiculously chuffed with her new room, it didn’t cost the earth and I know it will grow with her into teenage years (I secretly want to sleep in there and I’m nearly 40)…
What I love about this wallpaper is that I can imagine it in most rooms and in terms of style it’s so transitional. How fabulous would it look covering every wall in a modern cloakroom? or in an ornate bathroom with gold taps? I’d love it in our bedroom with touches of blush accessories and as well as white or black furniture this wallpaper lends itself to dark wood, light beech, gold Chinoiserie and pops of colour like Isla’s desk.
Here are a few other I Love Wallpaper designs which I think are really versatile for any space:
What do you think? Fab transformation, particularly considering how inexpensive it was huh?!
Until next time,
Thank you to I Love Wallpaper for sponsoring this post and helping us to create a stunning funky bedroom that will grow with our 9 year old (and one I secretly want to sleep in!)
