How to Create a Relaxing Bedroom

Most of us would choose a bedroom that feels like a sanctuary where we can enjoy a peaceful serene space to restore our energy and rest.

Achieving this can not only result in the most aesthetically beautiful space but it can seriously aid a better night’s sleep too.

Here are my top tips on how to create a relaxing bedroom that you’ll never want to leave! I’ve also written an article here on how to promote a good night’s sleep.

CONSIDER COLOUR

Opting for neutral tones such as warm whites, light taupes and soft greys is the first step to creating a relaxing bedroom.

If you’re craving an injection of colour this can be brought in through touches in accessories such as cushions and artwork.

Personally I’m a huge fan of blush pinks, duck egg blue and pale natural green as they create a more tranquil energy.

HAVE BLISSFUL BEDDING

Your bed is the focal point of your bedroom and the key to getting a decent sleep so it should be inviting, comfortable and luxurious. I teamed up with DUSK to add the most beautiful bedding in our guest bedroom and it’s quite literally a dream (excuse the pun).

I chose their Mykonos bedding set along with their Manhattan bedspread in Putty and I just adore the fresh white duvet in contrast to the luxurious silky quilted throw. If it gets chilly there’s a practical option for an additional layer too. It definitely gives high-end hotel vibes!

HAVE STORAGE SOLUTIONS

Having somewhere to tidy everything away is imperative if you want to create a relaxing bedroom.

Under-bed storage, fitted furniture and an ottoman at the end of the bed will help to hide away the clutter.

INTRODUCE TEXTURES

Soft textures such as fluffy rugs, throws and cushions will bring added cosiness and give a sense of luxury and peace that will instantly relax you.

If you stick to neutral tones you can layer textures together in an effortless way that also adds interest to the scheme.

I love the contrast of our waffle duvet against the silkiness of the throw in our guest room, which is layered further with faux fur rugs alongside woven baskets and trays. A few metallic touches create additional depth.

CONSIDER LIGHTING

Ambience is important if you want to create a relaxing space. Rather than bright ceiling lights, invest in table lamps for either side of the bed and either choose wisely with your lightbulbs or add dimmer plugs.

Soho Lighting has some beautiful options, I could literally choose their whole collection!

Beautiful candles will also add a relaxing glow as well as generate a relaxing spa-like smell.

I hope these tips on how to create a relaxing bedroom have provided inspiration for your own.
