Every year we make a different Christmas bauble for the tree. Our 2023 makes were DIY Vintage Christmas Baubles and I have to admit, they’re my absolute favourites BY A MILE! They look so expensive and less ‘crafted’.
Previous makes have been driftwood reindeer decorations, air dry clay decorations and hanging vintage cars with trees on the roof…all very much enjoyed by our two girls who love this Christmas tradition we’ve created for our family as much as we do.
DIY VINTAGE CHRISTMAS BAUBLES

YOU WILL NEED
Baubles (we used plastic ones)
Paint (we used Craig & Rose paint samples)
Paint Brushes
Rub N Buff (we used Antique Gold)
Natural Sponge
Gold Metallic Spray Paint
Ribbon (we used Rust Velvet and Ivory Velvet from my own collection)

TO MAKE
Start by pulling the tops off the baubles then cover the baubles in paint using either a brush or sponge.
While the baubles are drying, spray paint the tops of the baubles in gold to add a luxe look.
When dry, use your natural sponge to create a dappled effect in a lighter colour paint than the original.
Use the natural sponge to add some Rub N Buff to the top layer to add to the ‘aged’ look.
Finally, add some beautiful ribbon.
They look as gorgeous in a bowl (this one is the Black Footed Amalie Bowl from my own homeware collection here on ohsokel.com and instagram.com/osk_living) as they do hung from the branches of the Christmas tree.

Merry Christmas!
