Let’s be honest, we love a bit of sparkle around here and when you’re serving delicious treats, indulgent presentation has to be the aim of the game.

You can’t get more indulgent than gold leaf on marble quartz and if you can get your hands on the slab free of charge then even better. We were given this sample of quartz while planning our kitchen makeover so it’s worth considering opportunities like this. Alternatively, an old chopping board or piece of cork would look pretty cool too.

All you need is:

An agate slice or a slab of marble/quartz

Gold leaf

PVA glue (Or gold size. I had some left from a gilding workshop)

Clear finish sealer for metal leaf

2 paint brushes

First clean the surface and ensure it’s completely dry before using a thin brush to carefully coat the edge of the slice with PVA glue or gold size.

Wait for the glue to dry slightly then apply the leaf.

Use a dry brush to sweet away any loose leaf.

Seal it with a clear finish in either spray or paint form.

Alongside a glass of fizz this is perfect combination for a girls’ night in my book.

The platter is so versatile, much like the DIY Gold Edged Agate Slice I shared a while back. Try using it to serve drinks, present a selection of candles, or a vase of flowers, and move it from room to room like I do to give it a different purpose.

This is a simple yet indulgent way to present delicious treats don’t you agree?! Thank you to Nouri for gifting us with these luxurious truffle balls.

Let me know how you like to serve canapés or drinks, I’d love to hear your ideas.
