DIY CLAY FOSSILS

Okay, so I have a bit of an obsession with Sculpley Clay and I’m inviting you to join me, particularly with the kids being off for half term as this is a really lovely activity to do with them. It’s one of those activities that’s as exciting to them as painting at home but without the mess if you get my drift!

I’ve made clay keyrings, a heart hanger and some marble effect jewellery dishes, but as this was with my three year old we decided to make clay fossils.

All you need is:

Sculpey Clay(I used Pearl White)

Rolling Pin

A plastic toy

Cling film or a sandwich bag (not essential)

Start by warming the clay in your hands to create a ball then roll it with a rolling pin. Place cling film over the top of it (you don’t have to do this, it just makes the clay smoother) and press your toy into the clay.

I had planned to use a dinosaur toy and a shell but my daughter insisted on using a gold fox instead. Who am I to argue?

Place on a baking tray in an oven at 130 degrees celsius for around 15-25 minutes depending on the thickness of your clay. Remove and allow to cool.

Your very own fossil, simples!

Until next time,

OSK xx
